What are Clear Aligners?

Clear Aligners are transparent and removable orthodontic devices used to position the teeth.

Clear Aligners are made of strong, medical grade plastic material. They are custom made to fit every individual as per the severity of malocclusion (teeth misalignment) 

​

Clear Aligners are convenient and better option than traditional braces.

Difference between Traditional Braces & Clear Aligners

Traditional Braces

  1. Clearly visible as made up of metals or ceramic brackets. 

  2. Less convenient as they are fixed during treatment. 

  3. Food particles may get stuck in braces making them difficult to maintain. 

  4. You may feel embarrassed due to metal braces. 

  5. Need to avoid certain food and drink.

  6. Risk of damage to brackets or rubber bands of braces.

Clear Aligners

  1. Almost invisible as they are made of smooth plastic trays.

  2. More convenient as they are removable. 

  3. Easy to clean and maintain oral hygiene. 

  4. Clear Aligners give you confidence during treatment. 

  5. As they are removable, you can eat or drink anything. 

  6. Less chances of damage of aligner's trays. 

Procedure for Clear Aligners

  • Procedure for clear aligners involves digital tooth scanning by using a mold of the patient's teeth. 

  • Computerized model shows the position of current and desired teeth. 

  • 3D printing technology is used to fabricate customized aligners. 

  • Aligners are made for each stage which slowly move the teeth into position. 

  • Each aligner is worn for at least 20 hours a day for a week or two to achieve desired result. 

  • Treatment takes 3 weeks to 6 months as per the condition and severity of a person's teeth.

Care during treatment of Clear Aligners

  1. Make sure to rinse aligners while removing to avoid bacterial growth on them. 

  2. Clean Invisalign with recommended cleaning solution or lukewarm water can be used to clean them. 

  3.  To get desired result aligners should be worn for at least 20 hours a day. 

  4. Avoid eating or drinking anything hot with aligners on. 

  5. Remove clear aligners while brushing and flossing. 

  6. Visit your dentist regularly throughout your treatment. 

Post treatment care of Clear Aligners

  1. Wear retainer recommended by orthodontist to retain new location of the teeth. 

  2. Remove your retainer while eating or drinking. 

  3. Brushing twice a day and flossing regularly will give the best result of the treatment. 

  4. After completion of the treatment, make regular appointment with your orthodontist every 6 months to maintain your oral health.
